Revenge Game: Catamounts Look to Inch Closer Towards Title in Colossal Battle on Long Island

Revenge (noun): the defeat of a person or team by whom one was beaten in a previous encounter.

That is what the first place Vermont Catamounts seek tonight on Long Island. Ever since UVM was stunned on its home floor in the America East opener on January 8th vs. Stony Brook, February 20th was a date to look forward to. Fast forward to today, and Coach Becker's bunch has not lost since. 11 wins in a row. The nation's sixth longest winning streak. National spotlight. And a chance to take a major step towards a potential fourth straight No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Let's preview the biggest game in the America East this season:

Kings of the Northeast: After taking care of business last week at home, Vermont locked in its 12th straight 20-win season. The Catamounts now have 17 20-win seasons since 2001-02, which is more than ANY other team in the entire Northeast region (New England, NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD). Right behind UVM with 16 20-win seasons in that period? Syracuse. Hate to bring this up in front of my alma mater, but any time Vermont and Syracuse are mentioned in the same sentence when it comes to college basketball, folks are quick to reminisce on "Sorrentine From The Parking Lot." The world's largest parking lot is in Edmonton, Canada, which has an overwhelming 30,000 spots. Good luck finding your car.

Are U Ready For This?: For the third time this season, the Catamounts will be playing on national television, as tonight's game is on ESPNU. UVM is 1-1 in those contests (W @ St. John's, L @ Cincinnati) and gets another opportunity to showcase its talents in front of college hoops junkies around the nation this evening. Now, I do realize that ESPN is a Barstool competitor, so if you do not wish to help bump up their numbers, there's always our radio broadcast. I just feel it is my duty to let you all know how you can watch the game. As of September 2018, ESPNU is available to approximately 62.7 million pay television households in the United States. 62.7 million also happens to be the amount of internet users in the country of Iran, which is the most in the Middle East.

Do You Believe in Magic (Numbers)?: If the Catamounts can take care of business against the Seawolves tonight, the magic number to clinch the America East regular season title would be cut down to just one (1). Magicians actually have a fraternity of their own called the "Society of American Magicians," and it started in 1902 with 24 members. The president of that club? Who else but Harry Houdini.

Line: Vermont -5, O/U 136.5
